Michael Schumacher’s Condition Remains Stable, Still in a Coma

It’s been more than two weeks since Michael Schumacher’s unfortunate skiing accident left him in an induced coma. But there may be a ray of hope for the seven-time Formula One world champion and his family, as for the first time the word “critical” was not used in an official statement from Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm.

The champion remains in stable condition following the skiing accident that left him with severe head injuries since December 29, Kehm said on Friday. Since the accident, Schumacher has been in an induced coma in a Grenoble hospital in France.

“Michael’s family is very happy and confident with the work of the team of doctors treating Michael, and they trust them completely. Michael’s condition is still considered as stable,” Kehm said in an emailed statement, according to an ABC News report.

However, the manager stressed that any information regarding Schumacher’s health not coming from the doctors who treat him or his management “must be treated as pure speculation.” The swift reaction comes after German weekly news magazine Focus reported Schumacher might remain in a coma for the rest of his life.

Doctors treating Schumacher at the Grenoble hospital have not commented on his condition since January 6, when they said his condition was still critical. We can only hope we’ll hear better news soon.

There May be a Video of Schumacher’s Skiing Accident – Prosecutor Looking to Obtain It

As Michael Schumacher, who just turned 45, continues to lie in the coma induced to protect his brain cells from degrading, an entire press phenomenon has been created around his unfortunate skiing accident.

After we heard of a member of the press dressing up as a…priest to try and gain access to the F1 champ’s room, another twist in the story has been added: allegedly, there’s a mobile phone video of the very moment he crashed, and now the French prosecutors working to find out what happened are determined to get their hands on it.

German publication Der Spiegel says it was contacted on Sunday by a man who claimed to be in possession of said footage; he apparently caught Schumi’s fall as he was filming his girlfriend come down the slope, in the resort of Meribel, in the French Alps.

Meanwhile, for the fans waiting outside of the hospital where he is currently being held, there is no additional news. He is still stable yet in critical condition, as it’s been put by most of the press, quoting the doctors. However, that’s basically the doctors being evasive and doesn’t really mean anything. So far, he’s been operated on twice to remove blood clots from his brain.

The doctors have decreed, though, that they will speak again via an organized press conference when they have notable developments to report – hopefully, they will be of the good kind.

Michael Schumacher in a Coma Fighting for His Life after Skiing Accident

Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher is fighting for his life after suffering a severe head injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps on Sunday. The German underwent brain surgery and remains in critical condition, with the doctors refusing to comment on his prognosis.

The former Ferrari and Mercedes driver was skiing with his 14-year-old son and others in an off-piste area between two marked runs above Méribel when he fell on Sunday morning and banged his head against a rock.

Despite the fact that he was wearing a helmet, the shock was powerful and by the time he arrived in hospital in Moutiers he went into an induced coma. After being stabilized, he was moved to a larger hospital in Grenoble, where he underwent brain surgery.

Professor Jean-Francois Payen told reporters that if Schumacher had not been wearing a protective helmet “he wouldn’t be here now.” Doctors explained they had to operate him urgently to release some pressure in his head. “We cannot tell you what the outcome will be yet,” the doctors told reporters on Monday morning. “All we can do is wait,” they added. According to neurosurgeon Stephan Chabardes, a post-operative scan had shown “diffuse haemorrhagic legions” on both sides of Schumacher’s brain.

The seven-time Formula 1 champion is kept in a coma at low temperature to facilitate his recovery. Schumacher’s spokeswoman said in a statement: “We ask for understanding that we cannot give out continuous information about his health. He was wearing a helmet and was not alone. No one else was involved in the fall.”

Schumacher retired from Formula 1 racing in 2012 and this year has become a brand ambassador for Mercedes-Benz and its “Intelligent Drive” safety and comfort systems.

Ferrari's Christmas Show with Mark Gene Dressed as Santa Driving a Sleigh in F138

Ferrari, the same company that won't let 99 percenters touch its cars with a ten-foot pole at auto shows, is wearing its friendly and socially responsible mask for the holiday season with the release of "Merry Christmas" video.

The two-minute long clip from Scuderia Ferrari stars team test driver Marc Gene dressing up as Santa Claus and hooking up a sleigh onto a Ferrari F138 racer to deliver presents around the world.

While the video starts promising, we go from mildly interested to facepalm faster than you can spell Gene's name; but don't take our word for it, do check it out for yourself right below the break.
